Exhibition launch and giving visitors a chance to get their tongue around the Welsh Language

On Friday, 21 July 2006, at 6pm, Hywel Williams MP will be launching the Environment and Language art exhibition at Nant Gwrtheyrn Heritage Centre.

The exhibition has been organised by Nant Gwrtheyrn and Plas Glyn y Weddw Art Gallery, Llanbedrog, with funding from the Assembly’s Sustainable Development Fund.

The artwork by three local artists will display the relationship between the environment and the Welsh language. The artists are Catrin Williams RCA of Pwllheli, Emrys Parry originally from Nefyn and Kim Atkinson of Uwchmynydd.

The exhibition, displayed at Nant Gwrtheyrn Heritage Centre and Caffi Meinir Restaurant on site, can be viewed every day from 22 July to 28 August 2006, 11am – 4pm.

Another of Nant Gwrtheyrn’s plans over the summer are Welsh language taster sessions partly funded by Menter Iaith Gwynedd. The one and a half hour sessions hosted by the popular actor Llion Williams will be held at Nant Gwrtheyrn Heritage Centre, Abersoch and Pwllheli during August. They will give visitors to the area a chance to learn more about the Welsh language and heritage in a fun packed way using games and activities that will teach them how to get their tongue around Welsh words and place names, meet and greet, ask for food and drink and much more. The sessions are suitable for all ages and hopefully they will appeal to families as well as individuals.
