An all-round experience

Nant Gwrtheyrn > News > An all-round experience

We love hearing about our student’s various hobbies, especially when they are able to continue with their activities during their week of learning with us.

Louise Bastock spent a week here on a Work Welsh course in January. Not only did she enjoy the learning experience, which has given her the confidence to speak Welsh at home with friends and family. She was also able to continue with a hobby she stared in April 2019 and has been doing daily, right on her doorstep!

Louise started wild swimming last year, and is aiming to swim 365 days in a row. This is how it helps her: “I have anxiety and I’ve suffered with depression. I heard about wild swimming and how it can help with mental health and one day I just decided to give it a go. Since then I’ve been swimming every day, and it’s become my personal challenge. It can benefit people who do it once a week or less, you don’t have to do it daily. I feel much better now and I’m able to do much more things, thanks to the benefits of wild swimming. I’d encourage anyone to give it a go… learning Welsh and wild swimming. You can do both at Nant Gwrtheyrn. I had an amazing week and I’m pleased with the outcomes of the course!”

Nant Gwrtheyrn offers students a completely unique learning experience. It’s hard work learning a language, but it’s all about balance. Our residential courses offer students some free time to undertake pleasure and relaxation activities. Whether it’s reading a book, climbing a mountain or wild swimming – you’ll get it all at the Nant.
