To commemorate the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers, school children from Gwynedd will be inspired by one of Wales’ well-known artists, Catrin Williams from Pwllheli.
The children will create abstract pictures and monoprints themed on Dwynwen’s story by painting, drawing, printing, sewing and lettering. Much of the work will be displayed in some of the Nant’s buildings, the remainder will be taken back to the schools.
Elen Thomas, Nant Gwrtheyrn’s Education Officer said,
“A week of workshops had been scheduled but they filled up so quickly we managed to arrange another three days to accommodate some of the schools that were interested. The overwhelming response shows how important it is to offer these experiences. The children are sure to have a fantastic time and we’re all looking forward to seeing the finished artwork. Our next week of workshops for primary schools will begin on February 27th, concentrating on poetry celebrating Saint David’s day.” She added:
“We are also grateful to Awards for All Wales and the Arts Council for Wales who have part-funded these workshops.”
