April has been a month filled with conferences and retreats here at Nant. The Greensville Trust returned to the Nant once again this year during the beautiful sunshine of Easter holidays. The National Teachers Union of Wales and the National Centre for Learning Welsh held their annual national conferences here during April, as well.

Several successful courses have been held here at Nant during the last month. A very enthusiastic group of learners came to attend the Entry Part 1 course recently. Many had attended the Pre-Entry course earlier in the year to have a taste of the language. It is very encouraging to see learners returning to the Nant and continuing on their language journey. The staff at Nant would like to wish them all well and hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome them here again in the future.

The fun and informal Chatting Sessions continues to be held on Wednesday afternoons with the support of local Welsh speakers. We are thankful for their enthusiasm for supporting our learners.

We now look forward to welcoming Bethan Gwanas as a Guest Tutor again this year. Following the success of last year’s’ Women in Welsh Literature ‘course, Bethan will be leading a course on some of Wales’ best contemporary writers – various authors such as Manon Steffan Ros, Sonia Edwards and Lleucu Roberts, but men too this time – such as Rhys Iorwerth, Mihangel Morgan and Ifor ap Glyn. Novels and poems will be studied and there will also be an opportunity to meet some of the authors. Bethan is an author and an experienced Welsh tutor by today and we’re sure it will be an entertaining, educational and fun course!
