The Work Welsh programme will be returning to Nant Gwrtheyrn in its new digital format for 2021.

The aim of the scheme, developed by the National Centre for Learning Welsh, is to strengthen workers Welsh skills in workplaces right across Wales by offering a verity of Learn Welsh courses that are fully funded by the Welsh Government.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the programme has been modified, with a new extended self-study course, as well as intensive courses run in virtual classrooms. Nant Gwrtheyrn is proud to be one of those providers that will offer a variety of virtual intensive courses between January and March 2021.

Rhodri Evans, Education Manager at Nant Gwrtheyrn, said: “After months of hard work planning and preparing with the National Centre for Learning Welsh, we are delighted to see the return of the intensive ‘Use Welsh’ courses being provided by Nant Gwrtheyrn.

“These will be virtual courses with six learning sessions delivered by experienced tutors over a two-week period. The courses also include self-study elements that have been developed specifically for this new learning approach. The courses will culminate in events being held in March to celebrate the success of the students.

“The response so far has been very encouraging from both employers and employees as classes are already starting to fill.”

Dona Lewis, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Planning and Development at the National Centre for Learning Welsh added: “Working Welsh offers options for learning, improving, and using Welsh language skills for work purposes and offers help and support to employees as well as their employers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world. The development of digital Welsh Learning resources was already a priority for the Welsh at Work scheme, and that work has been accelerating over recent months, with offering a great deal of choice for our learners.

“We have adapted our services to give employers and their workplaces the best possible opportunities to learn and enjoy the Welsh language and are pleased to be working with Nant Gwrtheyrn again.”
