A new Chief Executive for Nant Gwrtheyrn
The Board of Trustees of Nant Gwrtheyrn are pleased to announce that Siwan Tomos has been appointed Chief Executive of the Trust following an open process and competitive interviews.
Siwan is currently Nant Gwrtheyrn’s Education and Heritage manager and has worked at the centre for over two years. Originally from St Dogmael’s, Pembrokeshire, Siwan and her family have been living on the Llŷn peninsula for the last six years, where she is an active and energetic member of her community.
With a Degree and a Master’s Degree in Welsh, Siwan is extremely well qualified and has a distinguished background in the field of linguistic planning. She started her career with the Urdd Youth organisation before moving on to a management position at IAITH Cyf, working on national projects on behalf of the Welsh Government. Since joining the team at the Nant, Siwan has led all the Welsh Language learning aspects of the Centre, work that led to excellent results from Estyn following an inspection at Nant Gwrtheyrn in 2024.
Siwan has also been working with the team at the National Centre for Learning Welsh on a number of cutting edge and key projects in the field of Welsh Language learning.
Huw Jones, Chair of the Nant Gwrtheyrn Board, said:
“Siwan is a natural and passionate leader and she has an exciting vision for the future of the Nant. She was responsible last year for securing the best possible results in the Welsh for Adults field in an Estyn inspection. Siwan will now take responsibility for all the resources at this very special location and for leading the team that provides a welcome for learners and visitors of all kinds. Nant Gwrtheyrn is moving confidently forward to an exciting future.”
The Education Department has gone from strength to strength under Siwan’s firm leadership, with a significant increase in the number of learners attending courses at the Nant. Siwan will start her new role over the next few weeks. As Chief Executive, she will be responsible for all elements at the centre and for representing Nant Gwrtheyrn at a local and national level. She is very much looking forward to working with the dedicated and talented staff, and with the Board at the Nant:
"I'm really looking forward to leading the team I've worked with over the last two years. The Nant is a very special place that delivers innovative and important work and provides excellent experiences for new speakers and for all our customers. I look forward to developing the work locally and nationally and building on relationships old and new. I'm ready for the challenge and grateful for the opportunity."
